Chandas is an educational composition aid. Meter detection and Guru/Laghu markings are suggestions based on the included rules and catalog; they are not a substitute for scholarly review.

Your compositions

You retain your rights in text you enter. Chandas does not claim ownership of compositions stored locally or shared by you.

Availability

The software is provided without a guarantee that every script, tradition, optional rule, or unusual Unicode sequence will be classified correctly. Results should be treated as composition guidance and independently reviewed where accuracy is important.

Meter data attribution

The initial meter catalog was input by Dr. Dhaval Patel and is based on Mārcis Gasūns’s scraping of Anand Mishra’s work. The source repository distributes the catalog under GPL-2.0. See shreevatsa/sanskrit and the third-party notices.
