# Chandas.org copyright and licensing

## Original Chandas.org work

Copyright © 2025–2026 Ganesh Krishna Shankarathota.

Except where a file or notice says otherwise, the original Chandas.org source
code, user interface, documentation, and original machine-readable rule
structures are licensed under the **GNU General Public License, version 3
only** (`GPL-3.0-only`).

No “or any later version” option is granted. The complete license text is in
[`LICENSE.md`](LICENSE.md).

## Third-party material

The copyright statement above does not claim ownership of third-party
material. In particular:

- `mishra.json` retains its original attribution and is distributed under the
  terms described in [`THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md`](THIRD_PARTY_NOTICES.md).
- The Gradle wrapper, Android dependencies, development dependencies, and
  other externally maintained components retain their respective copyright
  and license terms.
- References cited by the meter rule documentation remain the work of their
  respective authors and publishers.
- Poems in `examples/field_guide_corpus.json` retain their stated authorship,
  public-domain status, and transcription/source attribution.
- `data/english/en-cmudict-stress-v1.json` remains under the CMU Pronouncing
  Dictionary terms reproduced in `data/english/CMUDICT_LICENSE`; the English
  golden-corpus poem text retains its stated public-domain authorship.

Where a third-party license conflicts with this general notice, the
third-party notice controls for that material.
